5 Stars Puzzle of Neuschwanstein Castle
It’s a beautiful puzzle, but, as you other puzzle goers know, it’s very tedious. However, it’s a wonderful challenge and I would recommend it to anyone.
5 Stars Great puzzle!
I like working on a puzzle in the evening when we watch TV. The 2008 Summer Olympics were on, so we were watching more TV than usual. I really enjoyed this puzzle. I started with the castle which was the easiest section for me, then I did the mountains where the sky meets, then the rest of the sky with the branches and leaves. The hardest parts were the sections on either side of the castle. It’s a beautiful puzzle when complete, it made me want to travel to the castle’s magical setting. It took me about 2 weeks to finish. I recommend it highly!
5 Stars 1500 piece Castle Adventure
This is the first 1500 piece puzzle we have attempted. Ravensburger is a wonderful puzzle company with high quality pieces. If you are used to the 1000 piece level of puzzles, you will be surprized how much longer it takes to complete a puzzle with only 500 more pieces. We took three weeks to finish. There is a 1000 piece version of this castle and if we had it to do over, we would have gotten that level. The best experience we recieved from this puzzle is finding out that 1000 pieces is about our limit to have fun without becoming bored. There were several times we almost gave up on the dark areas of this one. We have purchased many puzzles from Amazon and of the several puzzle companies represented, Ravensburger has the highest level of consistant quality.
5 Stars Great Puzzle
Like all Ravensburger puzzles, this one was very detailed but enjoyable. This is a great hobby for the winter months, and you can’t go wrong with a Ravensburger puzzle!
4 Stars Beautiful… but very difficult.
Unlike another puzzle I reviewed recently (XI Media Structure Series - Medieval, the pieces for this puzzle are half the size, and provide far less variation in shape-cut. This, of course, makes for a much more difficult puzzle since it’s pretty easy to think a piece goes somewhere it doesn’t… and getting frustrated later when you realize you’ve been looking for a non-existent shape to fit a hole.
The sheer size of this 1,500 piece puzzle is impressive, though, and even in the 2/3 done stage it has elicited comments by guests who cannot help seeing it spread out on my coffee table.
While the castle section in the center is relatively simple to complete, the leaves and trees surrounding it are horrifically difficult. I do not suggest this puzzle to anyone who does not have oodles of patience, and who won’t mind a huge amount of table space to be consumed for at least a couple of weeks by this monster. The sheer amount of time it will probably take the average person to complete it is perhaps worth the $20 or so that it’s going for right now… but once finished, I couldn’t dream of ever doing it again (see: Hasbro Liquid Puzzle Saver Glue). It’s that big, and requires that much stamina to complete.
