5 Stars Loved this party!
We had a blast creating the restaurant La Speranza in our home. This was our second year to do a mystery dinner. We really like this brand. My husband and I used lots of greenery with white lights, candles, and even had menus printed up. Our friends loved it. I’d like to get another one for next year.

5 Stars First-time user of murder mystery kits
I bought this kit as a guide for my husband’s 30th birthday party (held just last night) and invited four others after having read the review regarding the “extra guests,” for which I am so thankful. While the box might say 6-8 people, this is definitely better played with only 6 as the two extras do not have any speaking roles and are not suspects.

At first, we planned to host dinner at a restraunt while serving appetizers and drinks for round one at our house, but after reading the party planning guide, I realized that wasn’t the best plan. If you hope to host this in a public place, make sure it’s somewhere where you can reserve a private room at a minimum. If guests get into their roles, accusations can get pretty loud, with guests calling names and pointing fingers wildly. In addition, the place would need to either have a sound system (and you need to listen to an audio cd) or would need to be willing to allow you to bring in one. While you will get loud at times, at other points, you’ll need less noise so everyone can concentrate on the details being said.

Since we changed our plans and stayed at home, I fixed several of the recipes from the book, as well as a few others, and those we used (the garlic and white bean dip, the baked ziti, and the mushroom salad) were excellent.

My tips? Make sure your guests are willing to get into their roles (you can help with this by reading the brief about each person from the invite and assigning roles based on the personalities of the people invited), and give everyone time to read a page before playing it out (not reading in advance, but as you’re starting round two, for example, give everyone a chance to read who they’re supposed to be accusing and how they’re supposed to respond to other people’s accusations). Have as much prepared as possible before the party starts so you can focus on the mystery as well, and again, don’t play with the “extra” characters.

This was the first time any of my group have participated in a murder mystery party, and we’re already planning a second one–enjoy!

5 Stars Great entertainment.
This was the most fun I have had in a long time with drama-acting and having a dinner party while playing a “live-CLUE” game. I recommend it to anyone who has a many fun friends who are willing to really get into the characters and are clever enough to figure out all of the clues as they wine and dine throughout the evening. Have fun.

5 Stars A BLAST!
WOW! Pretty much sums it up for me. This was our firt murder mystery party and all of us agreed that the night was a blast. Like the other reviews suggest it was helpful that the six of us really got into the costumes and characters. We did a lot of improv. Also it is really a game for just six people. The dinner suggestions were good, but I tweaked them some. This game was so much fun. We played the game over three courses of food. Five hours and nine bottles of wine later we finished the game. We set up a chalk outline with caution tape out by our front door. On our porch we used a white board to outline the evenings menu. We decorated the tables with some fake grapes and used a red/white table cloth. We had candles everywhere and Italian music playing in the backround. I also created mugshots of the suspects so I could take our community newsletter and make a news flash bulletin which I put in each couples mailbox the next day. I cannot express how much fun we had. Not a game for introverts. The only thing that I would caution when you buy this game is to be careful when you are playing the cd. We accidentally jumped ahead in the last round and heard who the murderer was. We are all really excited to do another one.

5 Stars Our First Murder Mystery Dinner
We used this product for our first Mystery Dinner. It was a lot of fun! The game progressed at a nice speed. The menu suggestions worked great! And the costume suggestions for each character helped this game to be a success! I highly recommend this game.
