4 Stars Fun simple and durable-
All great for a kid’s game.
This game was easy to learn and work.
It is a game that gets brought out regularly to play , which makes it a hit in this house.
5 Stars Good Thinking - It Really is Fun!
Great game for young children! We bought it Christmas 2008 & play it with out 3 year old and our 7 year old and they love it (and can play with each other). Simple to teach to the kids because of the pictures, for the non-readers, and a great way to add to the frequency & recognition of the printed words for early readers. For adults playing the game, it isn’t nearly as repetitive (quickly boring) as many kids games. The game boards are thick and Zingo pieces are sturdy plastic. The only minor problem we had with it is the little foam “feet” pads on the bottom of the unit all came off(not really needed anyway).
5 Stars Excellent Toy
As a speech therapist I have found this toy a nice addition to my therapy tools for 3 to 5 year olds who need to increase expressive vocabulary. Durable, easy travel, adaptable.
5 Stars great educational game
I bought this game for my 4 yeard old grandson for his birthday. We love to play it together. I feel it is very educational and has helped him to differentiate between similar pictures. His mom was the one who saw the game and suggested I buy it. I’m so glad I did!
5 Stars The best fun EVER!
So much fun with this game! My daughter is 4 and we played for hours with it. A lot of laughs and competitions! I was amazed at her ability to focus on her cards. And she won all the times of course! You can find a video of us on Youtube, username is jmrault.
Grades K and up. Europe’s 2003 game of the year! Develops logic and spatial perception while kids learn to be tactical. Players take turns placing pieces on their board, each starting from their corner. Each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners! The goal is to get rid of all your pieces. The game ends when all players are blocked from laying down any more of their pieces. Includes one gameboard with 400 squares, 84 game pieces in four bright translucent colors, and an instruction guide.
Fun for both kids and adults, Blokus is a strategy board game that challenges spatial thinking. Bright colors and simple rules make it ideal for ages five and up, but adults will certainly be engrossed by this unique and challenging game.
Not Your Average Board Game
Blokus encourages creative thinking and has received a Mensa award for promoting healthy brain activity. The goal of this game is for players to fit all of their pieces onto the board. When placing a piece it may not lie adjacent to the player’s other pieces, but must be placed touching at least one corner of their pieces already on the board. The player who gets rid of all of their tiles first is the winner and strategic thinking helps as you block moves from your opponent. Blokus sometimes comes to an end because there are no more possible moves.
Four players make this abstract game especially fast and exciting; however, it can be just as fun for two or three players. Blokus has come up with a number of different ways to play the game to make it more thrilling when playing with less than four players. Draft Blokus allows a player to use more than one color and Reverse Blokus reverses the entire game so that the person who places the least amount of tiles on the board is the winner. It can even be played in a solitaire version when one player attempts to place all of their pieces in a single sitting. A game of Blokus typically lasts a 30 minutes. As a practical feature, raised edges on the board help keep the tiles in place and allow convenient clean-up. This game includes 84 pieces in four vibrant colors, an instruction guide, and one gameboard with 400 squares.
Blokus is simple to understand, but the game’s complexity is revealed shortly after everyone begins to play. It can be addictive, even for those not normally into abstract games. Blokus is a catalyst for spatial thinking, as players form images in their mind before placing the pieces on the board. Children and adults can play together for hours of competitive family fun. As Europe’s 2003 Game of the Year, Blokus is adored by many and even played in professional tournaments.
What’s in the Box

Adding to the game’s challenges, each new piece must touch at least one other piece of the same color, but only at the corners. |

5 Stars Fun for the whole family
This game is so much fun. The whole family can play this game, my youngest child is 6 years old and he is very good in this game and the best part about it is, that it is also a lots of fun for adults at the same time.
5 Stars Great game to play with kids of different ages
Perfect game for our family of four. Our 8 year old can’t just try and beat his little sister by focusing on making it harder for her. (As he can with a game like Sorry.) He does that, he knows he can lose by letting the other two players have more freedom to place pieces.
Our 6 year old can use her natural smarts to her advantage without the handicap of just now learning the “value” of money or her lack of “killer instinct” when it comes to a game like Monopoly.
It’s a great game because it requires thinking and isn’t based on the luck of the dice.
We’ve given this as a gift to several kids and every parent thanks us afterward once they have a chance to play.
The only warning is to make sure you count every piece before playing. We had guests over and didn’t realize they’d dumped out the box which meant we had to go searching for tiny yellow tiles.
5 Stars YOU WILL LOVE THIS GAME!!
Educational without seeming to be. Fun for LOTS if not all ages. Smart logic people look out! You will become addicted to this game. I can see why this game has won awards.
5 Stars Great educational toy
this game requires a person to plan ahead, think strategically, and improve spacial and geographical relations. My daughter started playing it at age 7. she loves to play with it by herself and with others. the only downside is that there are a lot of pieces but that wouldn’t stop me from purchasing it again.
5 Stars Great Game
I love this game. Some friends introduced it to my husband and I and we loved it so much, we had to buy our own. Every since then, we have brought the game to every party we go to and have introduced it to the students in my 7th grade classroom. Everyone who has tried it loves it. It’s always slow in the beginning when you are first learning how the games work, but every game after wards gets more and more exciting.

When You Live Forever, What Do You Live For?

5 Stars A must-have family game
Qwirkle is a big winner both as a family game and an educational game. If you love kids and/or games it belongs on your must-have list (along with Set, Zigity, Family Fluxx, Blokus, Magnetic Quarto, and Labyrinth: the card game).
PROS:
Fun for all ages and any number of players.
Inclusive, meaning adults and very young kids can have fun playing together (not exactly the same thing as the previous comment!)
Develops different kinds of thinking–logic, strategy, patterns (or left/right brain if you prefer).
An elementary toy which encourages experimentation with new rules and games, as well as tasks like sorting and patterning.
Portable, comes with drawstring bag.
Seems durable–no chipping or peeling paint, despite next comment.
CONS:
Poor build quality. Not all pieces are square or the same size. Many paint defects, some pieces were stuck together.
Poor design and implementation of a great idea. For example there is a four-pointed star and an eight-pointed star. The four-lobed shape is variously called flower, clover, and shamrock. These and other ambiguities could have easily been avoided with a little more thought. Also, red/orange and blue/green are hard to distinguish except in bright light.
Requires a fairly large flat surface to play and tiles are easily bumped (it’s a portable game but definitely not a travel game).
Each tile has one of six shapes drawn in one of six colors, resulting in a 36-tile grid. The game contains three of these sets for a total of 108 tiles. You must place tiles so that each row and column contains only one color or shape. You get bonus points for completing a set of six (a Qwirkle), at which point that line is closed. The lines can have gaps, which makes it much more interesting.
Note: The picture on the Amazon product page does not conform to the instructions that came with our game.
[...]
Apparently even the designers are having too much fun making up rules!
We like to play shorter versions of the game using one or two sets of tiles. (We store a single set in a Ziplock bag within the drawstring bag). Also, our son (6) likes to keep score only by counting Qwirkles, rather than having a point for each tile.
Here then are the rules for “Speed Qwirkle”, which is what we usually play:
Use only one set of tiles.
Two or more players.
Each player draws only 4 tiles.
Tiles can only be placed within a 6×6 square, so you’ll know fairly soon where each one must go.
Tiles must touch on an edge–you can’t put one in its place off by itself.
You have to play something if you can, but you can play fewer than you might.
Score one point for each line you complete (there are only 12).
You never know how it’s going to turn out until the very end!
We also play “Quicker Qwirkle”, with two sets of tiles and five per person. Another rule we use a lot is that you get a double bonus for making a purple Qwirkle, because it’s so much fun to say.
5 Stars Quirkle
What a great game! I played it at a friend’s house and had to have it for myself. Because you have to use your brain, it really helps in keeping my aging mind fit! Fascinating and can be played by two or more.
5 Stars Family Fun
Qwirkle
Love this - great for families with kids that are a bit older. Fun fun fun. Good quality game pieces.
In certain light, if you have your pieces stading up facing you, it can be hard to tell red from orange.
5 Stars Scrabble without the annoying words.
This is a great game that can be played on many levels.
My two-year old uses it for matching colors (and shapes - but the shapes are a little unorthodox).
My six year old has the mechanics down and is trying figure out how to make high-point plays.
I can match wits with my mathematician brother-in-law and strategy-crazed father-in-law.
I look forward to playing this game for a long long time.
5 Stars Great Game
This is a really fun game for kids and adults. There are ways to simplify it for younger kids, too. Helps kids learn colors, patterns and strategy.

This award winning card game is for one or more players. It is recommended for ages six and above. The object of the game is to identify “sets” of three cards. Each card is unique in its four features; color - red, green or purple, symbol - diamond, squiggle or oval, shading - solid, striped or open, and number - 1, 2 or 3. A “set” consists of three cards on which each feature is either the same on all of the cards, or different on all of the cards. This game contains complete instructions for play, 81 cards, and a durable plastic carrying case.SET is a card game of quick recognition and deduction. Each card contains one of three symbols (squiggles, diamonds, ovals) in varying numbers (up to three), colors (purple, green, red), and degrees of shading. A dealer arranges 12 cards, face up, and the players–without taking turns–hastily scrutinize the images for logical “sets” of three cards linked by combinations of sameness or difference. It’s not as complicated as it sounds: examples include a trio of paired ovals with increasing levels of shading between cards, or disparate symbols in different colors which increase in number on each card (card one has a green squiggle, card two a pair of purple ovals, card three a trio of diamonds). The trick is to keep calm while trying to make the rapid connections. The Darwinian nature of the game (remember: everyone plays simultaneously) is certain to cause some feistiness among more competitive players. –Tom Keogh

4 Stars A fun, but competitive game…
The game SET is really a diamond in the rough. With all of today’s video games, talking this & that and animatronic do-dads, Set is a great source of entertainment for all.
General Commentary:
- Ideal for groups of small (1) to medium size (5 or so).
- I normally play in a group of 20 somethings
Benefits:
- Great for mind stimulation.
- Great for younger (learning colors, numbers, shapes, etc) and older kids alike
Caveats:
- With older “kids”, the game can get a bit competitive
- At times, the game gets very close to a game of Hot Hands and it’s a matter of who can get there faster — with apprehension anytime anyone moves a muscle
- Not good for car rides or playing outside in potentially windy areas
Overall:
- The game is wonderful, but can get a bit competitive and a little addictive.
5 Stars Set, only if you enjoy your intellegence!
This game is fantastic. The instructions are pretty clear although the game uses a way of thinking most are not used to. A little slow at first as you need to check with others to see if you actually got a ’set’, but after that, it is so much fun!!!!
Potentially educational.
Fantastic for young developing minds, an ‘outside of the box’ kind of game.
5 Stars Not for everyone, but I love it!
If you’re visually-oriented or good at “spacial reasoning,” this game will likely be loads of fun for you. If your brain is wired such that you get headaches when thinking through those questions like “if this gear turns clockwise and this gear turns counter-clockwise, which way does this gear over here turn?,” then you’ll likely not like this game. There’s an online version or two you can play to see if you’d like it before buying it. Even if you do buy it and don’t like it, chances are that someone in your family or circle of friends will love it. I really do!
4 Stars set
This is a good game for all ages. I play it with my 7 yr old daughter and she loves it but I also play it with other adults. It is a fun game.
5 Stars family fun-SET game
It is a game challenging your brain and quick reaction. Finding the “set” from all the cards is not only testing the brain also testing how fast you can get the cards before your rival gets them. The overall of the game is fun and educable, especially for family. I would recommend this game to other people if they are seeking the similar type of game.

Five Crowns is a fast paced ingenious rummy-like card game. Its double deck contains five suits (the stars are new), but it has no aces or twos. This unique deck gives you many more options for arranging your hand into sets and sequences. The challenge is to see them make the right combinations, be the first to go out, then watch the others scramble as they get one last chance to cut their losses. Five Crowns, with its beautiful cards, is easy to learn. It starts with three cards and 3’s are wild. The next hand has four cards and 4’s are wild, and so on. You’ll need luck and skill throughout the game because even in the last hand a worthy opponent can come from behind and win. Remember, “the game isn’t over ’til the Kings go wild!” Five Crowns is for up to 2 to 7 players.

5 Stars “Five Crowns” card game is great family fun.
The Original Wizard Card Game
We had relatives visit that regularly played this game. They introduced us to it and we really enjoyed it. A fast paced game. At times one has to hold a lot of cards. Holding a lot of cards is difficult for a youngster.
5 Stars Five Crowns is our favorite card game!
We have been searching for Five Crowns in the stores, and we have been unsuccessful! After finding it on Amazon, I ordered three decks to get free shipping. Now I have a couple of extra decks to give away as gifts!

5 Stars Simple and Great
Very easy to play, everyone from my 8-year-old brother to my grandparents can play without help and no one seems to have much of an advantage based on age. Very fun and easy to play.
4 Stars Great fun for all ages
A great game for kids from 8 to 80. Easy to learn and fast paced so it’s not boring. Simple rules but you have to pay attention as the wild card changes with every new deal of the cards.
5 Stars It aint over until the kings go wild!
I picked this game up after someone discarded it from a care package while I was deployed. A co-worker and I decided to give it a try. We picked it up pretty quick and soon brought others into our daily card game. Once home I introduced my family to it and we’re still playing today. If you like Rummy or Phase 10 there’s no reason you won’t love this game. “It aint over until the kings go wild!” –FIVE STARS!

Bananagrams is a fast and fun word game that requires no pencil, paper or board. All you need is a table. One hand can be played in as little as five minutes. It is a great for family fun as well as being educational. Bananagrams portability makes it perfect for travel. Just grab the pouch and go.

5 Stars Rattle those bones!
I agree with everyone else that it’s fun to play and simple enough for a child to play with adults, but what I like most are the real urea game pieces. They have a weight and texture about them that brings back memories of when I used to “rattle the bones” as a kid.
4 Stars Great traveling educational
Hours of fun and challenge for both young and old, teams and children and adults- great learning possible
5 Stars 4 generations loved this game!
We played this several times with my 8 year old, my mom-in-law and grandmother. We all loved this game! The 8 year old even won 2 times! My 5 year old enjoys looking for specific letters and creating the alphabet. It is also a great take along game.
4 Stars A Scrabble alternative . . .
I bought two of these - one for our annual camping trip, and one as a birthday present for my sister-in-law, a Scrabble addict. We played several times on our trip, and my other sister-in-law even went out and bought one for my niece. It is faster than Scrabble and is not as intense, so for me it was more enjoyable. We have a couple of diehard Scrabble addicts in the family, and frankly, it is no fun to play Scrabble with them. Bananagrams turned out to be a happy medium - so good that the Scrabble board didn’t even come out. Kids and adults can play together. Keeping track of all the tiles could be a little tough, but generally this is a fun game and I would recommend it.
5 Stars wonderful game!
This game is like speed scrabble, but requires less thinking since there are no points involved. It is portable, which is awesome, and it is easy to stop playing after any amount of time. In addition, the banana theme is just fun!

Two players try to deduce the identity of their opponent’s “Mystery Person.” Using game boards with 48 frames apiece and an equal number of cards displaying character faces, players ask one another yes or no questions that help narrow the pool of possibilities. Through process of elimination, the identity of the Mystery Person slowly becomes evident. As kids’ skill levels grow, their questions become more strategic, allowing them to solve the mystery faster and faster. The faces on the cards are cheerful and clever and designed to give subgroups among the 48 characters just enough similarities to challenge players. –Tom Keogh

4 Stars Great game for a 2 yr old
This game has been a huge hit with my 2 yr old niece who plays it twice a day. Along with being a fun game as intended, Guess Who? can be played in many different ways and can entertain for a good chunk of time. Highly recommended.
3 Stars Guess Who? Board Game review
Loved this game when I was young. This is the second one we’ve had to buy. It is flimsy and falls apart easily. It’s still fun and worth playing but frustrating to put it back together constantly.
4 Stars Guess Who durability?
I remembered using this game w/ kids many years ago–it was their favorite and was used frequently w/out any problems. It is also a great game to work on focus and reasoning. I purchased it this time and one of the frames was defective, which meant that I had to order another frame from Hasbro (which they are kindly sending free of charge). I have used it several times with my patients and each time, some of the individual frames become unhinged and the flow of the game is interrupted (then it works on frustration tolerance!). It is my hope that increased usage will result in a little more durability. I don’t remember having this problem with the one used all those years ago.
3 Stars Very Poor Quality
I am a speech-language pathologist that purchased a different version of this game years ago. It is a great educational game for teaching deductive reasoning and asking questions properly. After misplacing the older version, I purchased the version now being sold. The quality is INCREDIBLY POOR. It took forever to assemble - getting the cards into the slots is a frustrating, fidgety, time-consuming task. Then I had to use tweezers to get the counter attached. Worst of all, the pieces holding the faces are constantly falling off, even when they are being used appropriately and gently by the players. The kids I work with love this game, but they - and I - are very frustrated with having to interrupt our play because the pieces keep coming off. The older version was much sturdier and did not have these problems.
2 Stars What happened to this timeless game?…
First of all let me say I love and have always loved playing Milton Bradley games (as an adult, and as a child), so with that said, here’s the purpose of this review. As a mother of two children I’m always trying to find new and old ways to entertain them, and now that my oldest is at the age to play board games I went and bought the classic “Guess Who”. I can’t express how disgusted I am at how cheap and so very time consuming this new and cheaper to manufacture game is. It takes more time to “fix” the game pieces every time the box is opened then it does to play the actual game, and as a consumer I would rather pay a few dollars more to have a better quality product (the kind of product I grew up knowing). Not everything has to change over time, and it’s sad that this fine company as done just that!

One of the most successful games of all time, Settlers of Catan is a trading and building game set in the mythical world of Catan. Players roll dice to determine which resources are generated each round and then must strategically trade those resources with other players to get what they need to build their settlements, cities, and roads. With multiple ways to gain victory points and a board that changes in every play, Settlers of Catan is a game that can be played hundreds of different ways. The base of a hugely successful franchise, with multiple engaging expansions, Settlers is the core game of many collections, and is a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends. For 3 to 4 players. The Settlers of Catan from Mayfair Games is an award-winning strategy game where players collect resources and use them to build roads, settlements and cities on their way to victory. On the Road to Settlement
The game rules and almanac booklet sets out four pages of guidelines for getting started. Don’t worry, the rules are straightforward and the four pages include plenty of illustrations. There’s a starting map that shows a well-balanced set-up for beginners to follow and directions that allow more advanced players to lay out the map of the island at random. You’ll have to pop the die-cut components of the game out of their cardboard holders before you play your first game.
The almanac portion of the booklet is laid out alphabetically, so while playing you can find answers to specific questions quickly. Useful entries remind you exactly what role pieces like the robber play, how actions like maritime trade work, and how to set up the board or finish the game.
Exploring and Developing Catan
The board consists of 19 terrain hexes surrounded by the ocean. Each type of terrain produces a different type of resource: brick, wool, ore, grain or lumber. There’s also a desert hex that produces no resources. As the game progresses, players use resources to build roads along the edges of these hexes and settlements or cities on the intersections where three hexes meet. Each player begins the game with two settlements and two roads.
Each player’s roll of the dice causes certain hexes to produce resources, which you collect if you have a settlement on one of them. On your turn, you’ll use various combinations of the resources you’ve acquired to build new roads and settlements, upgrade settlements to cities, or purchase development cards. The ability to trade resources with other players adds a new level of strategy and ensures that the game includes lots of interaction between players. You can also trade without worrying about other players using an unfavorable maritime trade rate. Elements including a robber piece that lets you steal from other players and a variety of development cards add intrigue to the game.
The objective of The Settlers of Catan is to be the first one who collects 10 victory points. Each settlement is worth one victory point and each city is worth two victory points. You can also earn victory points by holding the “Longest Road” card, the “Largest Army” card, or special victory point development cards.
Best-Selling Game of the Year
It’s easy to see why The Settlers of Catan has been recognized as a best-selling Game of the Year in both Germany and the U. S. We found this game to be fun and engaging for both children and adults, and the variable nature of the playing field really made us want to play again and again. When we started pausing to contemplate our opponents’ strategy and factoring the probability of different dice rolls into our moves, the game sometimes took longer than expected, but we were so engrossed we didn’t even notice until it was all over.
Due to the widespread popularity of the original game, several expansion sets (sold separately) are available that allow you to explore new aspects of the game or add more players. The only downside to this game is that you need to have either three or four players to play, so it’s great that expansion sets are available that will allow you to add players.
What’s in the Box
Six sea frame pieces, 19 terrain hexes, nine harbor pieces, 18 circular number tokens, 126 game cards, 16 cities, 20 settlements, 60 roads, two dice, a robber and a rules and almanac booklet.

5 Stars Best Game Ever.
This game is the best game i’ve ever played. It also has staying power. My family and friends have been playing for a couple years now and still love it. Once you get bored with the base edition, there are several expansion packs that increase depth and complexity to the game.
2 Stars flimsy
I found the board pieces very flimsy and of poor quality material for the price. The hexagonal pieces kept sliding under the framework! This made the initial set-up very time-consuming. Then the rules of play were not as “simple” and clear as the gamemaker led one to believe. There are far too many little pieces that if you loose a few you probably can’t play this game!! Perhaps after you struggle through it a few times and have plenty of time, it might be as good as it’s rated.
5 Stars Fun game
We haven’t played a board game in years, but this one we couldn’t get enough of. Easy to learn, enough strategy to keep you coming back repeatedly.
5 Stars Great game, well done and educational
We love this game! My 10 yr old son really enjoys playing with my husband and I. It’s educational and is a great game for families with older kids. It seems to take a little longer to play than it says on the box (more like 1.5-2 hours) but its well worth it. One of the best board games we have ever owned. I would highly recommend this game.
5 Stars Best board game I’ve ever played!
This game is fantastic, it has provided countless hours of play for our family. We purchased it as a Christmas gift and the kids played almost non-stop for the entire holiday season…in fact, there was usually a line to get into the next game. If you have more than 4 people that want to play, tandems work very well. This can be especially helpful for younger kids that don’t quite understand strategies as well. When we played, kids and adults of all ages joined in and had a blast. We went ahead and immediately bought the 5-6 player extension so more people could play.
Each setup is totally unique, which makes each game totally unique. Strategy (and some luck) is required in order to be successful, but there are a number of strategies that can used to win the game. The corners of some of the cardboard pieces are starting to show a bit of wear, but it should be able to hold up for quite a bit longer. I highly recommend this game - you will not be disappointed!

The challenge of Quiddler is to arrange your entire hand into words. Draw and discard in turn. Try to use those high point letters, but don’t get caught with them uncombined! Quiddler is fast paced because you can play using everyday words. A bonus is given for the most words in each round (so little words can help you win), as well as for the longest word. Quiddler is a delightful challenge for both rookies and word game lovers. Quiddler is for up to eight players. The rules are brutal, but the rewards are worth it in this card game that works a bit like Scrabble. Although there is a solitary version of the game for one player, you can play with up to eight. Cards containing letters of the alphabet and special combinations of letters are dealt in increasing number each time the dealer completes a round. Once you’ve collected your share, you can discard and pick up a new card with each turn. The object is to turn all the letters in your possession into dictionary-proof words while leaving one stray card as a final discard. You want to be the first to accomplish the goal, of course, but there is a scoring system that makes the play competitive for everyone. One nice element is the cards themselves: the letter design is based on beautiful artwork from Celtic manuscripts. This card game is a 1999 Parents’ Choice Silver Award winner. –Tom Keogh

On A recent trip to visit a friend in San Diego, my 16 year old grand daughter and i were introduced to Quiddler. we played this game several times each night and could not wait to get home to order some. I ordered 5 games, one for my friend, my sister, myself, my daughter and her family and one to spare. This gane appeals to every age group form my 7 year old grand son to my 77 year old mother. This is a great family game. Did you know that QUA is a word.
5 Stars Love this game
Played Quiddler at a party, and because it was such a good time, decided to purchase it. Sort of Scrabble and rummy combined…what’s not to love.
4 Stars great game with kids
Fun game for kids and adults, can be very competitive or everyone can help other players, good for new readers with help.
5 Stars A good gift for 7-8 year olds….
I had read the reviews prior to the purchase. Considering this is an award winning game, I was sure it would be a good buy. It is a good gift for kids who love words and a first fun game with words before graduating to the Scrabble. Personally, I think it is more fun than the Scrabble for 7 year olds. The 7-8 year olds I bought this game loved it. I got two of them from Amazon. Fabulous gift!
