This makes a great gift. I’m doing my Christmas shopping really early this year and I have ordered 5 of the knex tubs.
5 Stars Wonderful gift for a 7 year-old
My grandson loves this construction toy by knex, as does his father, an engineer. It is excellent for teaching, is tough and durable and has given him hours and hours of pleasure. Rah-rah. Grandma hit the nail on the head, giftwise. Send Grandma to Hawaii. Please?
5 Stars A little misleading
Overall I am very satisfied with the quality of K’nex, however, the size of the tub and the advertised picture is misleading. You see a large tub with pieces overflowing out of it and they print the number really big on the box. But in reality, the pieces barely fill 1/4 of the box. It just seems like a waste to me, and again, misleading.
4 Stars Motor NOT included
This is a great set of K’Nex, but be warned that the “spring motor that powers the models” described in the item description is NOT included in this kit. It is merely 400 pieces and a model book in a handy red tub, which is valuable enough, but if you would like to “motorize” your creations, you’ll have to supplement this kit with a set that contains a motor.
5 Stars Parrot toy
I actually bought this toy to give my parrot, Jack (a Ducorps cocokatoo) something to keep him busy. I assemble various groups of Knex together, and Jack proceeds to take them apart. He loves them, and while he ultimately will chew some pieces into oblivion, most are re-used over and over, so I’d have to say they were very durable. Not their intended use, but a successful adaptation, I’d say.
